got ink todaaayyyy. :D
i chose the musical CATS logo, the eyes, as my simple "swallow" chest piece. (they're placed where the swallows usually are.) this musical has been a part of my life for about nine years and i've so many good memories and influences from it that i made it a part of me forever.
.. how fitting. Now and Forever.
( it's funny cuz that's the slogan. )
whatchu guys think? help on the tags, please!

NOTE: i slapped this post up here because the songs from CATS came from a literary source. T.S. Eliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats was the inspiration for this play, so it definitely does have literary ties! hope that's peachy.

After years and years of planning, I have finally found a subject and design for my first tattoo, and had it done on the 30th of December.
Yes, it's a quote from Harry Potter, and while that is not the main reason why I got it, I am also aware that it is not everybody's cup of tea around here. Still felt the urge to share.

Hey everyone,
Can anyone suggest good tattoo parlors in Provience, RI and Boston, MA? I'd prefer PVD, but Boston is just a cheap train ride away, so Boston would work, too.
I'm getting a text tattoo.
Thanks for y'alls help!

So I've been reading this community for a while but didn't have a LJ account. I read about someone else getting a Matilda tattoo and figured I would post a picture of mine. I only have ooey-gooey pictures of it from right after completion, but it has healed wonderfully. I brought in 4 different pictures and put them together into one picture on my upper back. I got it done at Brooklyn Ink Spot in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.
Hope this picture works!

Okay so yesterday I finally went and got my first tattoo, after almost three years of contemplating it. In my Grade 11 Lit. class, we read the poem Ulysses by Lord Tennyson, and the quote "I am part of all that I have met." really jumped out at me. I've been through a lot in my 19 years, and so I decided it was a perfect quote to say that everything I do, everyone I meet, and everywhere I go makes up a part of who I am and, in turn, I do the same to them. Credit to Jessy at Adrenaline in Vancouver, BC for being awesome and super quick. Let me know what you think!

Vinha aqui escrever coisas. Mas tenho tanto sono.. Estou cansada.

Opinions on personal letters as tattoos

Hi there. I wanted to ask what people's feelings were on the concept of using quotes from people's real, personal letters as tattoos. Obviously the letter in question was eventually published, as part of a collection of letters- Letters from a Lost Generation by Vera Brittain, but I am unsure as to whether it is still a little inappropriate, perhaps, especially considering the letters were only published years after Brittain's death.
The phrase I would love to get as a tattoo is: "for it will be a part of me as long as I live and I shall remember, always."
This comes from a letter Brittain wrote and sent to her fiance Roland Leighton whilst he was fighting in World War One. (Roland went on to die in 1915 at the age of 20, from a gunshot wound.) A fuller quote, just to give a better idea of the context and meaning of the words is:
"Perhaps it will brighten the dark moments a little to think how you have meant to someone more than anything ever has or ever will. That which you have done and been will not be wasted; what you have striven for will not end in nothing, for it will be a part of me as long as I live and I shall remember, always"
So what do you think? Innapropriate? Weird? or not a problem?
Thank you in advance for your help!
